DISCUSSION: There is a lot of land across Europe that has to be restored. It would be nice if it could be done quickly.
Lines 16-17 emphasize that natural restoration will be quite slow. That’s why the dutch experiment is so exciting: it will speed up land restoration.

- The dutch study doesn’t say that natural recovery is fast. The study is about whether humans can speed up the natural rate of recovery by intervening.
- This makes no sense. Nowhere does the passage justify intense agricultural production. The passage is only about restoring former agricultural land.
- Not quite. First, overproduction refers to how much food is produced, not how much soil is depleted. Second, the passage never argues that agriculture isn’t harmful. The passage is about how to restore damage, not how much damage exists.
- Agricultural overproduction refers to producing more food than we need, in all of Europe. The passage never says why that is harmful.
- CORRECT. The dutch study showed us how to speed up recovery of agricultural land. This study was necessary because natural recovery is slow.
