LSAT 104 | Section 2 | Reading Comprehension: Q25

LSAT Preptest 104 explanations

RC Question 25 Explanation

DISCUSSION: Lines 5-7 show that other investigators have used Lowe’s method. And his method is consistent with the evidence. So we can say his method if generally accepted.

Lines 51-53 (and the entire third paragraph) show that Lowe’s theory could be disproven by new evidence. So the theory isn’t certain.

___________

  1. Other archaeologists have used the same method, so it’s hard to say that Lowe’s study is particularly innovative (lines 5-7). And Lowe’s theory isn’t flawed, just because it’s uncertain.
  2. CORRECT. See the discussion above. Lowe’s theory uses common methods, but future evidence could call his conclusion into question.
  3. Lowe’s theory isn’t outdated. It’s about as good as we can do with the available evidence. It’s only possible that future evidence will make Lowe’s theory outdated.
  4. Lowe’s theory is fairly scientific. He examines all the evidence that science can offer. Despite that, his theory isn’t quite effective, since it could be proven wrong by future evidence.
  5. Lines 5-7 show that others used Lowe’s methods, so they’re hardly unconventional. It’s hard to call them brilliant, for the same reason.
