DISCUSSION: The author and Alpers don’t agree on much. But this question only asks for something they “likely” agree on, so the standard is lower.
___________
- CORRECT. Alpers definitely agrees, the whole second paragraph tells us about her theory that Rembrandt was an entrepreneur.
In lines 32-35, the author agrees that there may be some truth to Alpers’ theory that Rembrandt made aesthetic decisions based on what he thought the market wanted.
- Lines 4-6 show that the author think the corpus will be affected if the paintings are frauds.
- The author disagrees; they think aesthetics were very important to Rembrandt. See lines 50-54.
- Alpers doesn’t say whether Rembrandt experimented. We only know that Alpers thinks Rembrandt made aesthetic decisions based on what the marketplace wanted.
- No one says that “most” of Rembrandt’s famous works weren’t painted by Rembrandt.
