LSAT Preptest 106 explanations

RC Question 13 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The last paragraph qualified Mass and Portman’s conclusion.

The author agrees with Mass and Portman that the global temperature change has been smaller than we used to think.

But the last paragraph shows that it is not correct to think that volcanos couldn’t cause years without a summer. Small regional differences can lead to major feedback effect.

___________

  1. We’re not told about any other climatic feedback loops.
  2. We’re never told why major eruptions have such a small effect.
  3. CORRECT. This is it. A small regional difference can start a feedback loop that leads to a major effect.
  4. We’re never told why researchers ignored El Nino.
  5. The fourth paragraph introduces feedback loops, and accepts the concept as it is without recommending changes.
