LSAT 107 | Section 2 | Reading Comprehension: Q7

LSAT Preptest 107 explanations

RC Question 7 Explanation

DISCUSSION: If you’ve followed along, this question isn’t so bad. The author is mainly interested in aesthetics. Lines 30-34 say so directly.

___________

  1. The opposing critic thinks this, but the author disagrees.
  2. The author cares little for the artists’ social views. He mostly cares about aesthetics.
  3. The artists broke with representational art. See lines 8-12.
  4. Adjusting to social conditions was just something Delacroix did.
  5. CORRECT. Lines 30-34 say this directly.

The wording of this question is tricky, but its directing you to the second paragraph for the list of painters (lines 13-15). The characteristics of these painters are actually discussed in the lines Graeme mentions in his comment above and in the explanation.

    Hi,

Would you please help me to see where in the second paragraph, “the Stylistic and aesthetic accomplishments” characteristic of painters is discussed?

Lines 30-34 directly mention aesthetic innovations.

I guess stylistic innovations you have to infer from the passage as a whole, where they mention new stlyles, such as line 47 or lines 7-8.
