LSAT Preptest 3 explanations

LR Question 22 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: Public reports by national commissions, governors’ conferences…

QUESTION TYPE: Must be True

ANALYSIS: We’re told that if the country is to remain a leader, then the need (for better understanding of international affairs on the part of the citizenry) is undeniable. If that is true, then new teachers must be prepared to teach their subjects with an international orientation.

If the country is to remain a leading nation there is a need for the citizenry to be informed teachers must be prepared to teach their subject matter with an international orientation.

___________

  1. CORRECT. This is it. See the discussion above.
  2. This is possible, but it doesn’t have to be true. If a giant asteroid struck the country it is unlikely the country would remain the leader even if teachers taught international subjects.
  3. Same as B. The citizenry understanding international affairs is a necessary condition, but not a sufficient condition.
  4. This flatly contradicts the stimulus which says that there is such a need.
  5. We have no idea if public reports have emphasized the need. They might have but we’re looking for something that has to be true.

Recap: The question begins with “Public reports by national commissions, governors’ conferences”. It is a Must be True question. Learn more about LSAT MBT questions in our guide to LSAT Logical Reasoning question types.
