LSAT Preptest 3 explanations

LR Question 4 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: The mind and the immune system have been shown to be…

QUESTION TYPE: Most Strongly Supported

ANALYSIS: If we behave magnanimously (generously) then this produces chemicals in the brain which help our white blood cells.

This supports the idea that acting magnanimously helps us as well as others.

___________

  1. Nothing in the stimulus talks about why we do good deeds.
  2. This goes way too far. Germs cause illness, generally. Lack of magnanimity might help germs but that’s about all we know.
  3. This gets things backwards. We know magnanimous behavior can cause certain chemicals to be produced. We don’t know if chemicals can produce magnanimity.
  4. CORRECT. Yes. It helps our immune systems. Note that this doesn’t say magnanimity is always a good idea. It only says it produces a benefit for us.
  5. This is way too strong. We don’t know how many extra white blood cells are produced.

Recap: The question begins with “The mind and the immune system have been shown to be”. It is a Most Strongly Supported question. Learn more about LSAT MSS questions in our guide to LSAT Logical Reasoning question types.
