LR Question 6 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: When machines are invented and technologies are developed…

QUESTION TYPE: Principle

ANALYSIS: This is a very important point. Technology allows us to do many new things. But it also prevents us from doing many things. Try going without a cellphone, email or Facebook. It would be very hard.

Technologies lets us do cool things, but it forces them on us (answer choice A).

___________

  1. CORRECT. The clock lets us do new things, but now we live by it.
  2. This isn’t clear. The clock has downsides but also many benefits.
  3. This might be true but it isn’t true of the clock. It has made us more productive.
  4. Same as B. It may be that the benefits of the clock outweigh the downsides.
  5. We don’t know about most new machines: we only know about the clock.

Recap: The question begins with “When machines are invented and technologies are developed”. It is a Principle question. Learn more about LSAT Principle questions in our guide to LSAT Logical Reasoning question types.
