CONCLUSION: We can safely proceed with the harvesting of peat in our country.

REASONING: Opponents claim that the water supply will be contaminated because peat harvesting would alter the ecological balance of the wetlands. Yet Ireland has harvested peat for centuries without contaminating its water supply. 

ANALYSIS: We need more information. There could be some major ecological difference between Ireland and this country that make peat harvesting a bad idea here.

1. It’s not clear how this is relevant to peat. It could be good or bad.
2. CORRECT. This strongly supports the argument. There’s no major difference between this country and Ireland. So if they harvested peat safely then so can we. 
3. This doesn’t support the idea that peat harvesting is safe.
4. That doesn’t tell us if it is safe to harvest the peat or not. 
5. Good for Ireland. But it doesn’t help us conclude that peat farming is safe, here.
