LSAT Preptest 110 explanations

RC Question 25 Explanation

DISCUSSION: Eliminate answers part by part. For example: D and E are wrong because there is no historical question raised in the first paragraph. There is only a fact mentioned: African Americans brought rice to America.

___________

  1. There are no competing theories. Only Vernon’s theories are discussed.
  2. We’re told of a method Vernon used to study rice-growing (interviewing the elderly), but we don’t know the method she used to discover the French document. Also, there are no questions left without at least a tentative answer.
  3. CORRECT. The question is given in lines 17-21: why did African Americans grow rice? The answers are those given for the period before and the period after the end of slavery.
  4. See explanation above. There was no historical question raised in the first paragraph.
  5. See explanation above. There was no historical question raised in the first paragraph.

How do I get better in the RC portion of the LSAT? I’m reading faster like one of your emails suggested, but I’m unable to accurately answer the questions. Are there any tips that can help me improve?

      Try this: https://lsathacks.com/guide/faq/how-to-go-faster-reading-comprehension/

And practice justifying your answers in the passage. Do it on review and you’ll get a better sense of the passage structure.
