DISCUSSION: Don’t get fooled by this question. It’s just asking us to regurgitate our knowledge of Okapis.
Think about it. If you found new Okapis but knew nothing about them, how would you expect them to behave? Probably like other Okapis.
___________
- A lot of people choose this. Reread lines 50-52. Okapis were pushed into forests…by animals that graze the edges of those same forests. This answer says “neighboring forests”.
- Lines 45-48 say that Okapis don’t eat in the border regions, even though their favorite foods are there. Okapis stay within forests.
- The passage says that Okapis may have gone inside forests to protect themselves from predators. But that doesn’t mean Okapis face no threats from predators if they’re in the forest.
- Lines 52-54 say that Okapis aren’t in some forests that would make great habitats. So there’s no reason to assume that any new forest full of Okapis is a particularly good habitat. The Okapi don’t seem to have noticed that their current habitats aren’t so great.
- CORRECT. See lines 52-58. Some scientists say the Okapi obey old forest boundaries. So if Okapi live in a forest, then it’s likely that Okapi lived in that forest in the past as well.
