LSAT 115 | Section 1 | Reading Comprehension: Q20

LSAT Preptest 115 explanations

RC Question 20 Explanation

DISCUSSION: Reread lines 44-50 for the context. It sounds like the scientists talked a lot (“rhetoric”) but haven’t done much. They haven’t yet managed to fully consider external issues.

Rhetoric means talking, as opposed to action.

___________

  1. This isn’t mentioned anywhere, and certainly not in lines 44-50.
  2. This isn’t mentioned anywhere, and certainly not in lines 44-50. The passage doesn’t say what historians of science should do. It’s just comparing Haraway’s method to theirs, without passing judgment.
  3. CORRECT. Scientists have talked about using external topics, but have failed to take action.
  4. Form isn’t mentioned in lines 44-50. And Haraway is changing both form and content.
  5. The scientists weren’t referring to Haraway when they used “rhetoric”. They were talking amongst themselves about the need for action.
