LSAT 110 | Section 1 | Reading Comprehension: Q9

LSAT Preptest 110 explanations

RC Question 9 Explanation

DISCUSSION: You’ll want to read lines 19-20 as well. Line 19 refers to the aesthetic that’s part of African-American culture.

___________

  1. Differing cultures? These lines refer to something within African-American culture.
  2. All music? That’s way too broad. This is only referring to spirituals and the blues.
  3. CORRECT. The experiences belonged to the whole African-American community. The experiences helped lead to both the blues and spirituals.
  4. Huh? This gibberish is just designed to confuse you. “Irreconcilable dichotomies” would mean that something was split into two opposing parts. That’s not the blues and spirituals; they are similar.
  5. This is too narrow. The cultural aesthetic could have arisen from all aspects of African-American culture, not just from folk music.
