LSAT 112 | Section 2 | Reading Comprehension: Q18

LSAT Preptest 112 explanations

RC Question 18 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The point of the passage is to describe new research: steroid and peptide hormones can affect behavior.

___________

  1. CORRECT. The new information is that other types of hormones can affect behavior.
  2. This is tempting. But lines 1-6 don’t say that everyone assumed only reproductive hormones can affect behavior. Previous research focussed on that area, but who knows why? Maybe it was not technically possible to research other hormones back then.
  3. There’s been no reinterpretation of the old research on reproductive hormones. All we know is that there is new research on steroid and peptide hormones. We don’t know if this changes the old research or simply adds new information.
  4. The theory that hormones can affect behavior is hardly new. Now we just know that more types of hormones can affect behavior.
  5. What’s the new approach? The passage is mainly focussed on discussing research results. There’s no mention of method or process.
