LSAT 112 | Section 2 | Reading Comprehension: Q25

LSAT Preptest 112 explanations

RC Question 25 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The last paragraph mentions another problem: citizens think the law is their enemy. The reasons for this are discussed: the law once was used to oppress citizens.

Examples are given of how people act now: people avoid taxes and cheat the government.

Then the solution is given: convince the citizens the law has changed.

With these structure questions, focus on one sentence at a time, and eliminate answers when part of them is wrong.

___________

  1. The solution comes at the end of the paragraph, not the start.
  2. There were no previous methods mentioned.
  3. There are no other solutions mentioned. And this ignores the reasons why citizens mistrust the law, and the examples of how they cheat the law.
  4. The first two parts are backwards, and the last part is wrong: citizens do still think the law is their enemy.
  5. CORRECT. The problem is that citizens mistrust the law. The examples are: disobeying the law or avoiding taxes. The solution is to educate citizens that the law is now their friend.
