LR Question 4 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: The government-owned gas company has begun selling stoves…

QUESTION TYPE: Principle – Strengthen

CONCLUSION: The government gas company is within its rights to sell gas appliances.

REASONING: A private company could do the same thing.

ANALYSIS: It’s possible that different rules apply to a government company than to a private company.

The right answer tells us not to worry about this.

___________

  1. CORRECT. Simple enough: if a private company can do it than so can the government.
  2. This would support the idea that the government company shouldn’t sell appliances.
  3. This goes way too far. We’re not trying to say that private companies should bow down before the government company.
  4. Owners of private companies did complain.
  5. So? Here a government company competes with a private company.
