LR Question 22 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: Drama critic: Audiences will enjoy Warner’s latest play…

QUESTION TYPE: Weaken – Exception

CONCLUSION: Audiences will enjoy Werner’s latest play.

REASONING: The chemistry between the actors is intense, and Ziegler does an excellent job in particular.

ANALYSIS: We’re not looking for answers that attacks the claim that strong acting leads to audience enjoyment. The wrong answers may suggest he acting isn’t actually good, or that other factors make audiences less likely to enjoy the play. The right answer will leave this assumption untouched.

___________

  1. The play is a tragedy, so this decreases the likelihood they will enjoy it.
  2. This does increase the likelihood that their new performance will be boring, despite the critic’s praise.
  3. This contradicts the critic’s assessment and weakens the critic’s argument.
  4. CORRECT. Since we don’t know what Werner’s other plays are like, this tells us nothing.
  5. If so, then they might disagree with his assessment and find the play unenjoyable.

Recap: The question begins with “Drama critic: Audiences will enjoy Warner’s latest play”. It is a Weaken question. Learn more about LSAT Weaken questions in our guide to LSAT Logical Reasoning question types.
