REASONING: The theory justifying Stacy’s conclusion is groundless, therefore her conclusion is wrong too.

1. He’s doing the opposite. Quincy is says that the earthquakes were only a correlation, and not a cause.
2. This is tempting, but he doesn’t disagree with her data. An example of that would be if he claimed that no one had seen glowing lights, or that there never were any earthquakes.
3. CORRECT. Yes. He says the theory underlying her explanation has no substance (is unsubstantiated).
4. He doesn’t explain the lights; he just claims Stacy’s explanation is wrong.
5. He doesn’t think the information is irrelevant, merely incorrect.
