LSAT Preptest 5 explanations

LR Question 25 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: Because of the recent transformation of the market…

QUESTION TYPE: Must be True

ANALYSIS: Quore needs a 10% increase to survive. If it can make 10%, then it can also make 20%. So if it is impossible for Quore to make 20%, then it will not survive (because it is also impossible for it to make 10%.)

___________

  1. We don’t even know if Quore can survive. And if Quore had a different production structure it’s possible that it wouldn’t even need any productivity increase to survive.
  2. The productivity increase is a necessary condition for avoiding bankruptcy, not a sufficient condition. Quore might still go bankrupt even if it increases productivity.
  3. It’s hard to say. Some other reason might have caused Quore to require a productivity increase.
  4. This will only be true if Quore survives. Quore might not achieve a productivity increase and fail instead.
  5. CORRECT. Yes. Quore needs 10%. And if it could get 10%, then it could also get 20%. So if it can’t get 20%, it can’t get 10% and it will go bankrupt.

Recap: The question begins with “Because of the recent transformation of the market”. It is a Must be True question. Learn how to master LSAT MBT questions on the LSAT Logical Reasoning question types page.
