LSAT Preptest 5 explanations

LR Question 4 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: The United States government generally tries to protect…

QUESTION TYPE: Method of Reasoning

ANALYSIS: On this sort of question, you should point back to the stimulus and identify the technique (for the correct answer.) Narrow it down to 1-2 choices based on intuition, but then confirm it.

___________

  1. A detailed statistical projection would likely be longer than a paragraph. Future topsoil loss will probably depend on what the government does.
  2. This doesn’t happen. The argument says that in many states topsoil has gone down to 6-8 inches. But we don’t have a nationwide number.
  3. Actually, the argument says that the US government normally does place a high value on its natural resources.
  4. The argument says federal spending is at “ridiculously low levels.” That sounds slanted to me.
  5. CORRECT. The argument does do this. Some states individually spend more than the federal government.
