DISCUSSION: As with questions 9 and 10, you should justify the answer using the passage. There’s almost always a line that lets you prove the right answer correct.
___________
- The passage never talks about stealing information.
- Unfortunately, we have no idea how much information was transferred from disks. It’s possible we lost most of the information stored on disks.
- Actually, line 23 implies that computer storage doesn’t cost much. Documents take up little space.
- CORRECT. The second paragraph says that some digital information lasts only ten years. This is less durable than the information mentioned in the first paragraph. Even videotapes last 20 years (line 18).
- Lines 56-59 suggest that we have so much information (‘sheer volume’) that much of it is useless. It is hard to sift through and find the valuable information. So unfortunately most new information isn’t essential.
