LSAT 135 | Section 3 | Reading Comprehension: Q2

LSAT Preptest 135 explanations

RC Question 2 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The last paragraph covers this. Lines 53-55 say that the Latina authors used new structures to better tell their own stories.

The second paragraph expands on the multiple identities these women have: Mexican, American, Hispanic, English speaking, women, etc.

The passage says that the Latina authors needed a varied, non-traditional style to express their fragmented identities.

The wrong answers are all nonsense that rely on you being confused about the meaning of the passage. The main point was this: the authors were non-traditional, and they mixed genres.

___________

  1. Lines 28-30 say that these autobiographies were not chronological.
  2. Non-narrative means poetry, essays, etc. The authors did use these genres. See lines 18-21. And no line says that the Latina authors excluded any non-narrative genres.
  3. Line 30 says that at least one author wrote her autobiography in terms of her political development.
  4. CORRECT. See the explanation above. The Latina authors had complex identities, so they needed a complex style to express their stories.
  5. Stuff and nonsense. The authors did use poetry in their narratives.
