LSAT 141 | Section 1 | Reading Comprehension: Q6

LSAT Preptest 141 explanations

RC Question 6 Explanation

DISCUSSION: Before you answer a question like this, you should reread/skim the second paragraph. Should only take 5-10 seconds to refresh yourself on what it says.

Then you’re fully prepared and can answer the question faster. Ultimately, rereading/skimming before answering saves time.

The point of the second paragraph is this: the author elaborates on the strict constructionist view and the consequences of that view. Then the author shows they disagree with the strict constructionists.

___________

  1. Actually, the author never mentioned why the strict constructionists disagree with evolutionary theory. No objections are listed.
  2. Not quite. The third paragraph lists recent evidence. The second paragraph just describes the strict constructionist views and says they are disproven by evidence that is to follow.
  3. The author never says whether the evidence in paragraphs 3 and 4 has gotten much attention.
  4. The author actually never says what arguments exist in support of the strict constructionist position.
  5. CORRECT. This refers specifically to lines 16-19. “Ramifications” means the consequences of the view of the strict constructionists, if that view is correct.
Since we know the consequences of their view, we can disprove their view if we show the consequences are false. That’s the purpose of lines 21-24 + paragraphs 3 and 4.
This answer covers everything well, but it’s unusually vaguely worded.
