LR Question 4 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: For the economically privileged in a society…

QUESTION TYPE: Method of Reasoning

ANALYSIS: Larissa disagrees with Walter. The wealthy and educated can protect themselves from injustices that the poor suffer from.

But allowing such injustice causes social unrest [which could ultimately harm the wealthy.]

Her method is to show that Walter’s conclusion (we should not allow injustice) is correct but that Walter’s reasons were wrong.

___________

  1. Larissa agrees that we should not allow the injustice. It will ultimately hurt the rich by encouraging unrest.
  2. Larissa doesn’t use Walter’s assumptions to draw further consequences. She disagrees with them instead.
  3. Larissa didn’t say Walter was unqualified to discuss the topic. She just said his reasoning was wrong.
  4. CORRECT. Yes. Larissa agrees with Walter’s conclusion but for a different reason.
  5. Actually, Larissa disagrees with part of Walter’s position (the reasoning.)
