LSAT Preptest 104 explanations

RC Question 23 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The author is favorable to Lowe’s theory. But they do caution that the historical record is incomplete, and future evidence could disprove Lowe’s theory.

___________

  1. This is too strong. Paragraph three says that new evidence might contradict Lowe’s theory.
  2. Same as A.
  3. This ignores paragraph three, which says that new evidence might contradict Lowe’s theory. This answer also ignores the second paragraph, which explains how collapse likely occurred.
  4. Lowe’s theory is perfectly consistent with the historical record. The only flaw with his theory (and it is an unavoidable flaw) is that future evidence could contradict it. The historical record is always incomplete.
  5. CORRECT. This captures the uncertainty of the stimulus. Paragraphs one and two show that Lowe’s theory seems good. Paragraph three points out that future evidence might contradict the theory.
