LSAT Preptest 21 explanations

RC Question 1 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The main point is that Temperley’s new anthology will help us understand a critical period in the history of music.

___________

  1. This ignores much of the passage. For example, it tells us nothing about the importance of Temperley’s new anthology.
  2. CORRECT. This captures the most important part of the passage: Temperley’s book gives scholars access to important pieces that were long unavailable.

This answer ignores the controversy over whether to call the group a “school”, but it’s still the most complete answer.
  3. This predicts too much. We don’t know that the music has been revived. We only know that scholars now have access to the music.
  4. This ignores Temperley and the Pianoforte school. It therefore ignores most of the passage.
  5. This only describes part of the fourth paragraph. And the Pianoforte School didn’t invent the piano; they just contributed to it’s invention.
