LSAT 101 | Section 1 | Reading Comprehension: Q13

LSAT Preptest 101 explanations

RC Question 13 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The second paragraph tells you about the effects the Pico workers’ struggle had on the Korean American community.

The third paragraph explains the reason for these effects. The Pico Union had a sympathetic, non-ideological cause with a strong human element. That’s why their struggle united the Korean American community.

___________

  1. We have no idea what motivated the Pico Union to come to America instead of protesting from Korea.
  2. Other Korean causes aren’t mentioned. Lines 7-10 say that this protest was unprecedented in how it unified the Korean American community. This implies that other causes hadn’t mobilized the Korean American community.
  3. CORRECT. Exactly. The third paragraph explains the reasons for the unity described in the second paragraph.
  4. We’re never told whether any other ethnic groups even noticed the Pico Union struggle.
  5. Lines 13-15 do say that young Korean Americans were more likely to mobilize, but paragraph three doesn’t say why.

Lines 42-44 say that the Pico struggle reduced difference between the community.
