LSAT Preptest 101 explanations

RC Question 12 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The final paragraph is the conclusion of the argument. It says that the experience of the Korean American community offers a lesson for all immigrant communities.

___________

  1. We’re never told if the Pico struggle affected any non-Korean immigrant communities.
  2. CORRECT. This is the best answer. The Korean community rallied around the Pico union, and they grew stronger as a result.

Other immigrant communities could also empower themselves by joining in struggles in their home countries (lines 51-60).
  3. The Korean American community didn’t face problems. The Pico union from Korea faced problems, and these problems united the Korean American community.
  4. The passage never said much about Korea, and it certainly didn’t mention other countries. The passage focussed on the Korean immigrant community in the US.
  5. This is far too broad. We’re mostly told about the Korean community. And while the Pico Union was a union, the passage implied that many types of struggles from the home country could help mobilize an immigrant community.
