DISCUSSION: The standard was whether the art had been used for it’s original purpose (lines 49-50).
___________
- Roman statues probably weren’t fulfilling the same purpose they fulfilled in Greece.
The Greek statues often had religious purposes, while the Romans used them as art.
And the statues certainly aren’t fulfilling their original purpose now, in modern museums. - We have no idea whether the painting is fulfilling its purpose.
- A signed print usually performs a different purpose than a painting. A print is a collectors item.
- Unless a King is wearing that crown (or a Queen), it isn’t fulfilling its original purpose.
- CORRECT. Since this art is fulfilling its original purpose, the experts would consider it authentic, even though it is a copy. See lines 49-50.
