LSAT 102 | Section 1 | Reading Comprehension: Q14

LSAT Preptest 102 explanations

RC Question 14 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The author’s main point is that the Pan-Indian scholars are wrong. Intertribalism is helping to keep tribal culture alive. Both intertribalism and tribalism help protect Native American culture.

___________

  1. Nonsense. Intertribalism sounds like a recent development, and a reaction to the threat of assimilation. I doubt the Natives practiced formal intertribalism before the American conquest.
  2. The author doesn’t think that tribalism and intertribalism are competing forces. Both help protect Native American culture.

    See the final paragraph.
  3. CORRECT. The last two paragraphs argue against the Pan-Indian scholars. The final paragraph sums up the argument. We see that both tribalism and intertribalism help Native American culture.
  4. This ignores the Pan-Indian scholars, and tribalism. Also, the passage barely talked about how Native Americans interact with the broader culture.
  5. The author thinks local traditions are getting stronger (lines 20-22).
