LSAT Preptest 102 explanations

RC Question 17 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The third paragraph shows that Pan-Indianism is based on a flawed assumption. See lines 39-40.

___________

  1. Close…but the author isn’t searching for evidence. They are showing that the assumption has no evidence.
  2. A theory isn’t wrong just because Native Americans dislike it. The author only mentioned their opposition to show that something might be wrong with the theory.
  3. The author does point out (lines 33-35) that Pan-Indianism is related to other assimilationist theories.

But the author only told us this to introduce the flawed assumption in context. He doesn’t talk about the origins of the theories.
  4. The author tells us that assimilationist theories rest on a common assumption. But he doesn’t examine other assimilationist theories.
  5. CORRECT. See lines 39-40.
