DISCUSSION: The author disagrees with the Pan-Indian sociologists. The author doesn’t think that intertribalism shows that Native Americans will be assimilated.

He shows that tribalism is growing, and that tribalism and intertribalism can support each other.

  1. This only describes paragraph three.
  2. Close, but not quite. The author does think intertribalism is a strong force (lines 41-42).
     
    Their point of disagreement with the sociologists is different. The author doesn’t think that intertribalism will destroy native culture.
  3. CORRECT. This covers the author’s disagreement with the sociologists, and the reasons for that disagreement.
  4. The author thinks that tribalism and intertribalism are complementary forces. See the final paragraph.
  5. This is the opinion of the Pan-Indian sociologists. The author disagrees with them.
