DISCUSSION: The wrong answers all have some support from the passage.
The right answer goes a little beyond what we can say with certainty, but it’s reasonable to think a court wouldn’t allow the government to destroy all of its records.
It’s common knowledge that government is legally required to keep records, and you’re allowed to use common knowledge that everyone would agree on.

- This could happen. The opponents of government email deletion make a good case that paper documents aren’t good substitutes.
(lines 23-30) - Lines 1-6 show that it is often illegal for employers to intercept phone calls.
- CORRECT. Even the advocates of deletion don’t want the government to delete paper copies too. This implies there may be a legal requirement for the government to keep records.
- Lines 40-43 show that a court already made a similar ruling.
- If your boss tells you they won’t read your email, then you do have a “reasonable expectation of privacy” (lines 48-51).
