LSAT Preptest 103 explanations

RC Question 27 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The historians argued that the contractual changes to marriage helped women. The historians thought the changes reflected post-1660 assumptions about property.

___________

  1. It sounds like the historians thought the changes benefitted women as soon as they happened.
  2. The second half of this answer is right, but the historians never mentioned any judicial resistance to women’s contractual rights.
  3. This is Staves’ argument. Line 6 says the historians thought the changes helped women.
  4. CORRECT. Line 6 says this directly. The historians thought the changes helped women.
  5. The historians never mention “most laws”. And line 6 says the laws were “a gain”. We don’t know whether the historians thought they were a big or a small gain.
