LSAT 103 | Section 4 | Reading Comprehension: Q26

LSAT Preptest 103 explanations

RC Question 26 Explanation

DISCUSSION: Staves mentions judicial decisions on lines 41-44. The judges used pre-1660 assumptions. Pre-1660 assumptions were that a husband controlled his wife’s property (lines 1-2).

Note that this is the only question which asked about paragraph two.

___________

  1. Staves never went this far. She just said that judges’ interpretations of the law were unfavorable to women.
  2. This describes eighteenth century historians, not judges (lines 38-41).
  3. CORRECT. Lines 41-44 say this directly.
  4. Paragraph two, taken as a whole, show that judicial decisions had an enormous effect on women’s marriage rights. Line 13 says that Staves’ evidence comes from court cases.
  5. Lines 41-44 contradict this. Pre-1660 assumptions were that a husband controlled his wife’s property (lines 1-2).
