LSAT Preptest 104 explanations

LR Question 16 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: Nutrition education in schools once promoted daily consumption of…

QUESTION TYPE: Strengthen – Exception

CONCLUSION: It was dangerous to recommend eating from the four food groups: milk, meat, fruit and vegetables, and breads/cereals.

REASONING: No reasoning is given.

ANALYSIS: We need to find a way to show that some of the foods above or dangerous, or that there’s some other reason not to eat from all groups.

___________

  1. This helps. The four food groups give the misleading impression that you should eat equally from all groups.
  2. This shows that the “meat” category is misleading. We should eat fish.
  3. The fruits and vegetables category wasn’t clear. It should have been more explicit.
  4. CORRECT. This shows the fruits and vegetables group was useful. It weakens the argument.
  5. The four food groups are necessary for health, but not sufficient. But some people incorrectly thought they were enough on their own.
