LSAT Preptest 143 explanations

RC Question 6 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: Terence Turner would be most likely to agree…

DISCUSSION: Terence Turner was the anthropologist mentioned in the final paragraph who studied the Kayapo’s use of video.

Turner thought that the Kayapo were able to use video without modifying their culture. As such Turner completely disagrees with Weiner.

___________

  1. Turner only talks about the Kayapo. He doesn’t talk about other societies.
  2. Ridiculous. Everyone in the passage agrees that video technology is widely available. See lines 6-12.
  3. Nonsense. Weiner’s entire concern is that video will Westernize indigenous peoples, destroying their culture. So Weiner appears to value traditional cultures.
  4. CORRECT. This matches. Turner’s study of the Kayapo showed that they could adapt video to their culture.
So Turner disagrees with Weiner’s view that video will inevitably Westernize indigenous cultures.
  5. Turner doesn’t mention other technologies, so Turner can’t possibly have an opinion about this. This is a gibberish answer.
