LR Question 10 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: The increase in the price of jet fuel is due to a…

QUESTION TYPE: Must be True

FACTS:

  1. Jet fuel supply has decreased compared to demand. Jet fuel prices are up.
  2. Yet there is more jet fuel for sale now than last year.

ANALYSIS: It must be the case that jet fuel demand has increased even faster than supply.

___________

  1. CORRECT. If jet fuel demand hasn’t increased then there’s no way supply has gone down compared to demand.
  2. The efficiency of jet engines doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with how much fuel is sold.
  3. Same as B, this doesn’t necessarily have much to do with how much jet fuel is sold or demanded.
  4. This could explain why supply hasn’t increased as fast as demand, but it doesn’t have to be true.
  5. The stimulus indicates that the supply of jet fuel for sale has increased.

Recap: The question begins with “The increase in the price of jet fuel is due to a”. It is a Must be True question. Learn more about LSAT MBT questions in our guide to LSAT Logical Reasoning question types.
