LSAT 101 | Section 1 | Reading Comprehension: Q15

LSAT Preptest 101 explanations

RC Question 15 Explanation

DISCUSSION: Lines 2-6 criticize traditional legal research. It focuses on only a few, arcane cases and it doesn’t help show how the law will affect real people with real problems.

___________

  1. The author never says whether traditional legal research could improve. Maybe it has very limited potential.
  2. CORRECT. This nicely sums up lines 2-6. The author prefers the approaches in the third paragraph, which help plaintiffs win cases.
  3. We’re never told if traditional research led to the use of social science in law.
  4. Who knows? Maybe traditional research was always terrible and never significant.
  5. Lines 2-6 show no gratitude, and no evidence that traditional research has produced any unique evidence.
