LSAT 101 | Section 1 | Reading Comprehension: Q3

LSAT Preptest 101 explanations

RC Question 3 Explanation

DISCUSSION: See lines 40-43. If people are mistaken, then they will misunderstand what risk communicators say.

The wrong answers all say things that have nothing to do with what’s in those lines.

___________

  1. Lines 40-43 suggest the opposite. Lay people will just get confused if they lack good information.
  2. Actually, lines 40-43 suggest that lay people will completely misunderstand.
  3. CORRECT. People will make decisions based on their existing information. Line 43 says people will “misconstrue” the communication, which means they will not understand the intended meaning.
  4. Lines 40-43 don’t say what happens if lay people tell others about their mistaken information. They might not even decide to tell other people.
  5. Lines 40-43 say that lay people will misunderstand new information. They won’t ignore it.
