LSAT 133 | Section 3 | Logical Reasoning: Q16

LSAT Preptest 133 explanations

LR Question 16 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: Travaillier Corporation has recently hired employees with…

QUESTION TYPE: Weaken

CONCLUSION: Travaillier must be planning to enlarge its customer base [to include people who would travel by bus.]

REASONING: It looks like Travaillier is planning to expand into bus services. It currently focuses on air travel and its existing customers don’t care about buses.

ANALYSIS: We’re looking to weaken the idea that Travaillier is looking for new customers. A-D don’t even touch on this point. Remember what you’re looking for; most LSAT questions aren’t nearly as hard as they seem.

There’s no reason to think that Travaillier couldn’t try to change the preferences of its existing customers.

___________

  1. This doesn’t mean that Travaillier won’t try again. But if anything, this strengthens the argument.
  2. This doesn’t mean Travaillier won’t or shouldn’t try.
  3. This is pretty vague. At least one could just mean one. That doesn’t tell us much.
  4. This could be bad news for Travaillier but it doesn’t help us weaken the idea that Travaillier is looking for new customers.
  5. CORRECT. If Travaillier listens to its consultants then it might be trying to expand by trying to change the preferences of existing customers. This weakens the idea that Travaillier is looking for new customers.
