DISCUSSION: Passage B cites a new scientific study. Passage A merely speculates. Even their talk about neurons is just speculation (See “It could be” in line 19).
___________
- Neither passage questions the reality of muscle memory.
- CORRECT. Passage B does this in lines 52-61. Passage A doesn’t mention any experiments.
- Passage B doesn’t appeal to personal experience.
Example of appeal: “If you have ever weight lifted, then you know you regain strength easier after a break than you did when you first started.” - Passage A talks about psychological factors in their third paragraph. Passage B doesn’t mention psychological factors.
- Passage A speculates: see lines 19-37: it’s all speculation. Passage B doesn’t really speculate. I wouldn’t say citing a scientific study is speculation. But, even if that does count as speculation, we’re looking for something which Passage A doesn’t do.
