LSAT Preptest 114 explanations

LR Question 10 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: It is wrong to waste our natural resources…

QUESTION TYPE: Must be True

CONCLUSION: The city should not build an incinerator.

REASONING: It is wrong to waste natural resources. Burning trash in incinerators is an incredible waste of natural resources. Fewer resources are wasted if trash is recycled. Building an incinerator will cause less trash to be recycled.

ANALYSIS: Pretty much all we know is that recycling wastes less than incineration.

___________

  1. We don’t even know if the city has an incinerator yet. They could be building one because they have none.
  2. We only know recycling wastes less trash. It might not eliminate it entirely.
  3. We only know that recycling is more effective than incinerating. There could be a third method that is even better.
  4. CORRECT. Burning huge amounts of trash would be a waste of resources. So the city must avoid it if it doesn’t want to waste resources.
  5. Hard to say. There may still be some waste even if trash isn’t burned.
