LR Question 8 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: Jorge: You won’t be able to write well abut the rock music…

QUESTION TYPE: Method of Reasoning

ANALYSIS: Ruth challenges his reasoning by noting that historians can write about events they were not a part of.

___________

  1. That’s absurd. She was definitely a baby.
  2. Ruth does not even say “popular culture”
  3. This sounds fancy, but it just claims she argued that pop culture was worth talking about. …That wasn’t her argument.
  4. CORRECT. The unstated assumption was that she could not write about the music because she wasn’t part of the culture. She notes that historians write about Rome without having been part of the culture.
  5. She doesn’t say anything about Jorge.
