LSAT Preptest 5 explanations

LR Question 15 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: M: It is almost impossible to find a person between the ages…

QUESTION TYPE: Must be False

ANALYSIS: Q tells us that the reason few 85-90 year olds are left-handed is because schoolteachers forced them to use their right hand. We are asked to say what M could not argue.

___________

  1. CORRECT. can’t say that right-handedness helps you live longer, since some of the old folk are likely left-handers who were forced to switch. Otherwise the fact that there were no left-handers that old would have been evidence that left-handedness leads to an early death.
  2. Q’s evidence actually supports this. We don’t force children to be right handed anymore.
  3. We don’t know. It might or might not be. Q’s evidence doesn’t force us to conclude this is wrong.
  4. Q’s evidence supports this partially. We know social pressure can affect handedness.
  5. Q’s evidence strongly supports this. None of the former left-handers switched back once school was over.
