RC Question 18 Explanation

DISCUSSION: Passage A is a general description of the problems with patents. Passage B is a specific company’s plan to deal with the threat of patent lawsuits.

  1. Passage B doesn’t criticize any of the ideas in Passage A. Both passages agree with each other on all points.
  2. CORRECT. Patents are the problem described in passage A. Passage B describe’s a company’s strategy for dealing with patents.
  3. Passage A says the defensive strategy is a good idea. The last sentence of the third paragraph of passage A say it’s a mistake not to have defensive patents.
  4. Passage B doesn’t say how we can get out of the patent situation we’re in.
  5. Passage A only presents one side. Passage A criticizes patents, and has nothing good to say about them.
