LSAT Preptest 21 explanations

LR Question 7 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: Of all of the photographs taken of him at his wedding…

QUESTION TYPE: Paradox

PARADOX: John’s friends thought that a picture didn’t look like John. John thought it did look like him.

ANALYSIS: We need something that explains why John would see things differently from his friends. Only answer choice D does this. We see ourselves differently than everyone else, because we only see ourselves in mirrors.

___________

  1. We would think that John’s friends would recognize him in his normal clothes.
  2. This doesn’t explain why John’s friends had a different view.
  3. Why would John’s friends have a different view of a black and white photograph than John did?
  4. CORRECT. We only see ourselves in mirrors, which reverse our face. John is used to seeing himself in a mirror, but his friends aren’t.
  5. If there were several photographs only of John, then why didn’t John think those looked like him as well?

Recap: The question begins with “Of all of the photographs taken of him at his wedding”. It is a Paradox question. Learn how to master LSAT Paradox questions on the LSAT Logical Reasoning question types page.
