LR Question 15 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: The authors of a recent article examined warnings of an impending…

QUESTION TYPE: Main Point

CONCLUSION: There is evidence that species are becoming extinct more rapidly.

REASONING: Fish are becoming extinct more rapidly.

ANALYSIS: This is a bad argument. Other animals might be going extinct less quickly. We have to look at all animals, not just fish.

The main point is that there is evidence that animals are going extinct faster.

___________

  1. CORRECT. Fish provide this evidence.
  2. The author disagrees with this. They give evidence from fish, and argue that species are going extinct more rapidly.
  3. The author never said this. If this were true, then they’d have a better argument.
  4. This is a fact that supports the conclusion.
  5. The author hasn’t said this is true. There are thousands of fish species, at least.
