LSAT Preptest 109 explanations

RC Question 2 Explanation

DISCUSSION: Welfare is mentioned in line 6. It seems to mean the general well-being of a nation: how well everything is going.

___________

  1. CORRECT. This sounds about right. The argument uses welfare in the most general sense.
  2. This is a part of welfare, but only a very narrow part. Government services are just a small part of our day.
  3. This is part of welfare, but not all of it. What good is money if we’re all sick, or if our children die at birth?
  4. This may be a part of welfare, but there are other parts. Equal distribution of income won’t help if the country is so poor that everyone starves.
  5. Same as D, except this is even more narrow. We’re not told if these efforts succeed.
