CONCLUSION: The book was misplaced or stolen.
REASONING: The author eliminated all alternate possibilities.
ANALYSIS: On method of reasoning questions, you’re not supposed to be critical of the argument. Instead you’re just supposed to figure out how the author arrives at their conclusion. In this case, the author’s method was to eliminate alternatives.
Note that the wrong answers are very abstract. It’s good practice to figure out what they mean. To prove you understand an answer, think of an example for it. If you can do this, then you fully understand the answers and it will be obvious when they are not correct.

Example: You say all Canadians are nice. But that can’t be true. Tom is a jerk, and he’s Canadian. - CORRECT. Exactly what happened.
